Skip Caray Passed Away At Age 68
Long time Braves announcer Skip Caray, passed away on Sunday at age 68. As a long time Braves fan, I’m saddened today. I’ve been watching, seeing, and listening to Braves games since as early as I can remember. I remember going to games in the 1980’s and having the pick of nearly any seat in the house. Back then the Braves were so lousy you never had a problem finding your seat. When the 1990’s came around, that all changed.
My favorite Caray moment: 1992 NLCS; Braves vs. Pirates. I was watching a little TV outside with a friend on my trampoline. We were watching and listening to slow as molasses Sid Bream rounding third base heading for home. Barry Bonds picked up the Francisco Cabrera’s hit and heaved it home. “He iiiiiissssss …safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! … Braves win!” My friend and I went absolutely crazy.
