A New Addition To The Family

Just after my birthday in December, Emily and I welcomed a new edition to the family. No, no, not a baby, a kegerator!

My kegerator setup

As a birthday present to myself I decided to buy a kegerator. It came a few days after a hastily thrown together birthday party, but just in time for me to run around and fill up a CO2 tank and get a keg. As it happens I had the day off, so the timing was just right.

What’s on Tap?

Sweetwater 420 Tap

We ended up with a 1/2 barrel keg (full keg) of Sweetwater 420 purchased from Green’s. The tap handle was a birthday present from a friend of mine who knew I was getting a kegerator. He was my go-to guy with questions since he also has a kegerator. I wasn’t really sure what my first keg would be, but after the present I just had to go with 420.

I purchased the KC2000 EdgeStar kegerator from Compact Appliance. I’ve been happy with the purchase so I’d recommend the model if you are in the market for a kegerator. The instructions that came with the kegerator were top notch, minus one small item. If you follow them exactly, you’ll have one rubber gasket left over. That gasket goes below the tower to keep it firm against the top of the kegerator.

Nearly two months later, the keg is still giving us cold, delicious beer! The kegerator is current in my office, but with an upcoming home renovation it looks like I’ll be getting some basement space to put in a home bar. I’m overly excited about the home bar project!

Blogging More in 2009

I going to make an effort to blog here more often in 2009. I’ve got a few posts in the pipeline, hopefully they will be going out in February. I’m going to try to post at least twice a month, perhaps more if something exciting is going on. We’ll just have to wait and see. I hope everyone is having a great 2009 so far!

Updated to Wordpress 2.7

As usual, this blog gets neglected more often than I would like. Since I don’t post that frequently, this is usually my first Wordpress blog to get updated to the latest version. I’m running Wordpress 2.7 and so far I really like it. The WP Dashboard got a pretty significant visual makeover, which I’m enjoying. Thanks Wordpress!

I Voted!

Better late than never I suppose, but I voted for the first time in my life this year. Emily and I stood in line for about an hour and a half before we were able to cast our ballots. I’m thankful that as an American, I can have a say in who leads our country.

A few months before the election I hadn’t made up my mind on who would get my vote. After watching the debates, reading the candidates websites, and scouring the internet for additional information, I made up my mind for good the night before the election.

In the end, neither Obama or McCain is the perfect candidate. The choice for voters is who is the candidate they feel is the best fit for leading our country. For me, that person was Barack Obama. I’m excited about the next four years.

Tina Fay As Sarah Palin: Hilarious

After watching the VP debate and this video, I’m not sure if Tina Fay or Sarah Palin was actually debating Joe Biden on Thursday.  Get ready for a few laughs.
